Turkey?s Modernisation Attracts Spanish Investors
Written by admin on April 6th, 2012Spain’s economic future may still be uncertain, but Spanish investors are clear about economies they deem worthy of investment in this current market and Turkey tops the list, according to the experts in property in Turkey, House Sales Turkey (http://www.housesalesturkey.com/). A recent report from the Spanish business newspaper Expansion revealed that investors in Spain are attracted to Turkey’s ambitious modernisation plans, as well as it’s strong economic outlook.
International real estate investors keep a close eye on a country’s wider economic position, not just the state of its real estate market, expecially in what are still turbulent financial times for much of the world. Anyone considering investing in real esate in Turkey will therefore be heartened by the news that the country has been highlighted as a good investment bet overall by Spanish investors. This news is especially significant given that Spain has only just escaped a bailout, unlike its neighbours Portugal which succumbed, so decisions to invest internationally don’t come lightly.
The recent article from the Spanish business newspaper Expansion looked at Turkey’s energy and infrastructure plans and was particularly encouraged by the country’s modernisation: “Turkey is about to undertake a massive modernization program, worth more than USD 150 billion…“Turkey’s large population, increasing income and strategic location altogether make Turkey more attractive than ever in the eyes of Europe”. The article went on to say: “Turkish-Spanish trade volume has reached EUR 7 billion and Spanish investments in Turkey amount to EUR 3 billion, with 370 Spanish companies active in the country”. The Turkish Government’s inward investment agency’s (ISPAT) representative in Spain, Yasemen Korukcu said “The number of Spanish companies in Turkey is set to increase, as the country offers many opportunities”.
Turkey’s modernistion is not only attracting European trade and commerce, but also firming up the country’s already impressive reputation as a real estate investment destination. Real estate in Turkey used to be largely lifestyle-driven, with holiday villas in Turkey being the most popular purchase from international buyers. However, now investment property in Turkey is being snapped up by the savvy, from city apartments and land plots to commercial units and of course the ever-popular holiday homes in Turkey’s coastal regions.
