They changed the Marketing rules on you again. I will tell you that I hear a lot of Marketing ideas but a lot of them do not apply to us in the cleaning business. The newest methods are outdated that tell you how to advertise your trade online are inapplicable. So, I’ve been striving on trying to display people what is working for me on-line and what I think might be the future for us. You can fix your website all you want. You can even have it posted on the of search engines for a time. You may pay for search advertisingand get some visits. But, if you have a long term vision of your business then you have to do it now and advance working on what I think is the single most crucialMarketing method for the cleaning trade.

When customers look for a local business, what do you think they are looking for more than a flashy website? I believe that it is reputation and then price. Why the reputation? Without a good reputation, the price doesn’t matter. If you are known for your work, the client knows that they will get what they buyed. The next thought in their mind becomes what price will I have to pay for this service. What can you do today to start building your “local” online credibility? If you have not done so already, then go to your favorite search engine & type in “submit a local website” then by the website you want to list your company in. Set up your company information in it’s entirety. From pictures to everything else.

When you have done that, then when you are at the customer’s place and as soon as you have completed that job ask the customer to go on-line to give you a review. Find out if they have a G-mail, Yahoo or MSN account. Walk them to that search engine & type in your company site. This will bring your company to the local listings. Now have them give you a review right there and then. Then, have them read the other reviews if they like & see if they will press the “five stars” button. Finished! If you do this every day, then you are informing everyone in your community that you have a clean reputation.

Then, there are other ways to do this faster. Like contacting your customers, informing your friends who are clients & also others who are in the cleaning service to trade reviews with you. Why I think this is critical is that in the future this way of searching local business will serve as the quickest and safest way for a client to find you. It will cancel the “newbies” from getting a lead on you. You willhave a lead on them by years. Here is the local listing vision as I see it today. Google, Bing & Yahoo have a free listing right now & the services listed are in the sequence of who is nearest to the person doing the search query. Eventually, they will charge for the #1 position. But, if your reputation is sparkling clean, your target audience will choose you over the $ ones. Ok, do it now. Book-mark this article so you can come back to it for questions and links.
